Sébastien Candel is an Emeritus Professor at CentraleSupélec, University Paris- Saclay and an Honorary Professor at Institut universitaire de France. He obtained an engineering degree from École Centrale Paris, a PhD from the California Institute of Technology and a Science Doctorate from université Pierre-et-Marie-Curie. His research in the domains of combustion and aeroacoustics, has applications in energy and in aerospace propulsion. Among many distinctions, Sébastien Candel has been the recipient of the silver medal of CNRS, the Marcel Dassault Grand Prize of Académie des sciences, the Distinguished Alumni Award of the California Institute of Technology, the Silver and Gold medals both from the Combustion Institute. He is currently chairing the scientific council of EDF and the launchers research and technology evaluation committee of CNES (the French Space Research Center).
